The Void That Lies Behind the Virtual Eyes
2020
The eyes from the virtual world, where tangible space isn’t a constraint, stare back absorbing information. The chasm which lies behind the screen holds infinite data becoming a world with its own history.
Through possessing a physical space with the illusion of infinity, ‘The Void Which Lies Behind the Virtual Eyes’(2020) becomes a metaphorical portrayal of what lies behind a screen; embodying electronic representation, storage space in the physical and the intangible.
Summer Group Show: The Muse Gallery and Studio
2019
Summer Group Show was an extension to Degree Show One; an installation functioning as both artwork and gallery. The images echo into the installation becoming a visible metaphor to the act of ‘reposting’ images on social media.
The images on each phone consisted of all the artworks within the exhibition, digitally portrayed in a manner designed to spark controversy. It discusses the role of social media in the development of artist’s careers. Through discussing themes such as self promotion, advertisement, ownership and digitisation; ‘Summer Group Show’ (2019) initiates a conversation relevant to the contemporary artworld.
The artwork was exhibited in the Summer Group Show, awarding me a place on the Muse Gallery and Studio’s 6 month residency program.
Degree Show One
2019
‘Degree Show One’ is a sculptural work which discusses the effects of the digital on the contemporary art world in terms of exhibitional space. The project was sponsored by Xiaomi through the donation of 15 smartphones.
Through functioning as a platform ‘reposting’ other artists works from the same exhibition without consent, it examines whether virtual platforms can act as an extension to what we understand a gallery space to be. With the digitisation of the artworld, it is necessary to raise awareness to the issues that surround this change. Ownership and copyright are also themes brought into this discussion, as the sharing of images on social media, without crediting the original creator has initiated the ‘death of the author’. Through the act of ‘stealing’ artworks and displaying them digitally as reflections/ holograms, ‘Degree Show One’ suggests a correlation between virtual platforms and advertisement.
Throughout the course of the exhibition, this controversial artwork saw mixed reactions from viewers. The artists whose artworks were ‘shared’ in this sculpture also had mixed opinions, with one artist deleting the image of his work from one of the phones. This contrast was intended, causing debates; raising awareness to the issues that will arise in the near future.
‘Talking Point’: A WatWei Production
2019
‘Talking Point’ marks the debut show for WatWei; Rory Watson and Wei Prior. The one day event at the Lethaby Gallery, Kings Cross, took the form of an exhibition which questioned the role of the artist, gallery, and curator in the contemporary art world.

NikeTown Hologram
2018
The Niketown Hologram was designed to encase a video created by designer Wei Prior. The holographic machine was situated in the top floor of NikeTown, Oxford Circus over two-week period.
After creating a prototype of the design, Sean Group manufactured the final model to my specifications. The prototype can be seen below.
